"From suffrage to citizenship" project launched

Release Date: Mar 09, 2017

The ‘From suffrage to citizenship’ project has been established in order to celebrate the lives and contributions of ordinary people who did extraordinary things. Pioneers that worked hard for women to win the vote and who then went on to use their new political voice to improve their own communities.

The idea behind the project is to draw up a list of 100 pioneers from all the nominations that are sent in. These 100 pioneers will be commemorated nationally and there are plans to hold a rally and concert in London in 2018. There are also plans to produce a special book that will feature the 100 names.

The project will be engaging with local councils, communities, schools, voluntary organisations, women’s organisations, archive collections and more in order to encourage them to find out about their own pioneers. There might be someone's grandmother, great grandmother or great aunt who was a pioneer.

Deadline for completed nomination form is 31 October 2017.
